It was a treat to discover this site and relive my years
idolizing Jim Hall and Chaparral Cars - I still get 'goose
bumps' seeing the images!
Mr. Hall, thank you for the many thrills and a very kind
Christmas card to a young fan back in the 60's..., I still
have it and always will.....

As a kid in the 60's who saw your Chaparrals race at Mosport in Canada you changed my life forever by giving me an interest in racing cars that has followed me throughout the years. Jim, thank you.

Many years ago ( 1962 or 3 ), Shoal Field, Galveston -- this unpainted thing showed up w/ a relatively non-exotic 327 ( 3 X 2's?), with white cirles for the black number 66. C1, what a trip! In one fell swoop, the landscape of high end racing changed - forever. Thanks.

I remember Sering in the rain. Jim Hall drove the pants off everyone while opening the doors to let the rain out. I have always been a fan of the cars and the man, Chevrolet should be proud of his accomplishments.

Hello, Probably like everyone who comes to this site, I have great memories of watching the Chaparrals race. Thanks for those memories! A few questions: (1) what is the status of the 2E Continuation series? Any built or for sale? (2) is Jim Hall writing his racing auto-biography yet? Fans are anxiously awaiting it. (3) Is there any information about driving, testing and track records at rattlesnake Raceway? (4) Surely there must be a lot of video somewhere on Chaparral testing and development as well as racing. Will it ever be released? The videos available from the Petroleum Museum are short, over-produced and just a tease. (5) Is Jim hall concerned about climate change and will future race cars run on renewably generated hydrogen?! I await your reply. Thanks!

A "continuation series" of 2Ds would be great. If Ford can resurrect the GT, seems like the 2D could be made into a road-worthy machine. It still looks the part and with a modern automatic transaxle - why not? Ok - crash standards and all that but we can still dream can't we?

Hello Mr. Hall, In 1967 I started an interest in slot car racing. Every saturday I would walk 3 miles to and fro to the local track. It was a big thing for a 12 yr old! I was instantly drawn to the cox line of cars and controllers. That is when I discovered CHAPARRAL! WOW! If you were just starting out today you would still be cutting edge! When I see a picture today or recieve a new model I am taken back to one of the best periods of my life. thanks, Mike.

Dear Mr Hall,
I'm just writing to let you know that you 've been a major inspiration to me since I first saw you race at Laguna Seca when I was a junior in high school in 1964. I'm thrilled to see your building the Chapparral 2 E continuation series. How many are you building and are they all spoken for already? Will they have the mercury switch on the brake light?. I tell my kids about how you befuddled your competition with that. I love it.
Best wishes to you from a life long admirer.
Sincerely , Barry La Tour

Still vividly remember seeing Phil in 2F CYJ 156 win the BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch in '67. It's a memory i'll treasure forever. My most favourite race ever. Then to see a 2F at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the 2C and 2J as well!!! Mind blowing. To cap it all Jim came back with the 2E. What's my favourite make of car, road or race ?
Yep CHAPARRAL. Thanks Jim for some great memories.

Hello,
I have been a big fan of yours since I first learned of your victory in the 1965 Sebring 12 Hours. I have even collected models of your various race cars over the years (in plastic). I had hoped you would get a plastic company like AMT or Revell to do your cars for the kit buying public like myself so that we could have models of your cars in one scale. I have seen the resin kits, but they are way too expensive for us arm-chair modelers. In closing I wish to thank you, Mr. Hall, for the great racing you and your friends did over the years, particularly in cars called Chaparrals. I enjoyed every minute.

Have been looking high and low for the cam part# and specs for the 327 chaparral engine.
Years ago a friend ordered one and put that into a small block and installed the engine in a 56 nomad with a clutchflite hydromatic. Wow what a ride. We have the complete tranny and the engine but we haven't had much luck locating the cam and specs.
Any help you can render would be greatly appreciated.
