I was delighted to locate this web site, and have bookmarked it. I have been a fan of these cars since the 60's era of racing. My first 1/24 scale slot car was the Cox 2D. I have several photos of the cars, as well as two books.
Please add me to any mailing list to inform me of the vehicle's appearances at any events. I have never experienced them in person, and would love to.
Are there any plans for a road version of the 2D or F?

I was a young man standing at the end of the Hunaudieres, and this was during Le Mans (67?). At the time I was trying to become a proficient Sport/Proto driver, but instead I went up flying (that's another story)... Monsters were the order of the day: GT 40s, big Ferraris, Lolas, howling Matras, trout-like agile Porsches. But that particular year there was the all-white 2 F, and I still can hear it, not with my ears but with my guts, braking hard at the end of the fabulous straight, regurgitating its gears while its discs turned in the blink of an eye from dark to cherry to white, while its exhausts blew deep cannonballs over all the noises and sounds...
This was something else, an era when racing was more than automobiles chasing each other. My mentor, Jo Schlesser, taught me and many others a lesson then: life has to be lived fully, living is pure joy when it is paved with emotions. Those were the days of emotions.

I am located in New Zealand and are a big fan of Chaparral racecars. I have a Hot Wheels 1/64 scale model of the 2D (No.7) and would like a model of the 2F if I could find one! Any other Chaparral model would do also!Do you know of any model manufacturer making Chaparrals? My friend loves GT-40s, Lolas, Ferraris, McLarens (Why indeed?) etc, but I stay loyal to Jim Hall's masterpieces. Thanks.

I was 14 when I first saw the 2C. The inspiration of Jim Hall's creation led me to decide then and there to become an engineer, which has been my profession for the past 34 years. Thank you for the memories.

While I graduated from Midland High in 1963, Mr. Hall is a hero to me. He was kind enough to sign my copy of Falconer's book at the Indy race shop across the Rankin Hwy from the Chaparral shop. I treasure it to this day.

The 2J was pure genius. I love it when I run across someone who is interested in cars, but dosen't know about the 2J. That car never ceases to astonish people, once they're informed.

When I was in 5th grade I wrote a letter Jim Hall. To my surprise, he not only answered it, but he sent me picture. I still have those picture. They are a part of my youth. He also wrote me a letter that said to stop by if I was ever in Midland Texas. Being 11 at the time and living in Kenosha WI, I didn't even know were Midland Texas was.
Well in 1980 I should up with my letter and Gerald Davis gave me a tour of the place. It was a tour that I will never forget!

Greetings from Europe! (AUT)
I always loved Chaparral racing cars because of their exotic appearance, history and technical finesse, racing today is nothing compared to the era of the chaparrals.
We can still see the impact Chaparral racing engineering made with their truly amazing and aerodnamically advanced cars decades ago if we look at todays racing cars.
Good to know that the cars made it to a safe place were they can stay, they are legends and are important racing history.
Thank you for creating such amazing cars.
Long live the 2J!

just passing through ... always pleased to see/read/hear about Jim Hall ... I talked with him by phone back when I started racing in 1968 and always appreciated his kindness .. even traded photos of a Kodak picture of him in the Lotus-BRM back at Nurburgring, I think 1963

Dear Mr. Hall,
When I was in my early teens I used to write letters to Jim Hall and Colin Chapman. Sandy Hall always wrote me back a nice letter with a photograph of the latest Chaparral. I still have the photo of the Chaparral 2F at Daytona that she sent me. I'm still looking for my "Chaparral powered by Chevrolet" t-shirt that I bought with my paper route money. I later got a chance to meet Bruce McLaren, Mark Donohue, Dan Gurney and Peter Revson, amongst others. My name on eBay Motors is Chaparral2J. The Chaparral's were like spacecraft compared to the other race cars of the sixties. They still look remarkably contemporary.
I hope that you're having a great day.
Yours Truly,
George

I have spent a life time in autoracing photography and have always held Chaparral, close to my heart. My work can be seen in Pete Lyons Can-Am photo history and Time and two seats by Janos Wimpffen and Mark Donohues unfair advantage and many other publications.
Keep on bringing the cars out to the vintage races.

Hi..
I am a well known fashion photographer from NY and currently working on a book of my photography and stories spanning three decades the 60's, 70's and 80's. Motor racing has always been a passion and I was somewhat involved with SCCA in the early 60's. I have decided to include some of my racing photos along with the beautiful supermodels in this book. I have some awesome photos of 65 and 66 from Bridgehampton 1964. I will definitely be using some of these and would like some help from you in identifying certain people for historic reference. First off who was Jim's team mate at USRRC Vanderbilt Cup.. Roger Penske or Hap Sharp?
Perhaps i can email you some shots and you can be of some help. Because of my SCCA affiliation I was given a pass to wander the track freely so the collection of photos is very closeup and real..I was only 20 years old when i shot these.
Thanks,
Stan
