As a 15 year old in 1967 I was in awe of the 2H winning the BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch.
I have been a BIG fan ever since. I have my own humble collection of Chaparral memorabilia.
I hope one day to visit the museum and see the great man himself. I also hope you can bring the cars to visit England and Europe you will be made very welcome.
All my best wishes for your future works.

well done,
gretings from the GM dealer where you had the 1968? car built and serviced in Ruesselsheim/Germany (home town of the OPEL mother plant).
I spoke to Jim M about building more cars and get them street legal for Europe. Mispplaced his number...

Great web-site! I was there at Bridgehamton 1966 pit crewing for Sam Posey when the two winged cars showed up and amazed all of us. What a race that was, the sound & vibration of the race start is something you have to live through to fully appreciate what CANAM racing was like. In 1973 I met Jim Hall a few times while working for Graham McRae in the Formula 5000 series. Special people, places, race cars, and time in the '60's & '70's. I'm thankful I was apart of it in a small way. Thanks to; Jim Hall, Bruce McLaren, Sam Posey, Mark Danohue, Jon Sertees, Dan Gurney, D. Hobbs, Bret Lunger, B. Redman, Jody Scheckter and so many more for the inspiration to go racing for myself.

I'm writing a book on Lotus 15 cars and heard a rumour that Jim Hall may have bought one, new, in 1958 or 1959, and that it was raced by himself and a Ben G.O'Neal, only in Texas.
I can find nothing in Lotus records or published race entries/results, so I'd like to be able to contact Jim if possible, or have someone check with him anything about this rumoured car, please. Thank you.

Jim
My dad was on your team back in the 60's
Don William Tarpley(You guys called him pretty boy)
Any way there was a movie put out about racing and it featured the Chaparral. The opening scene of the movie is my dad walking out to the edge of the track holding up a signal board for the driver.I remember seing the movie as a child in Daytona with my dad. What was the name of the movie? how can i get a copy of it ?
Thanks and God bless

Chaparrals are GREAT. the first race I saw was the 1000 km at Nuerburgring in June '66. Winner was the Chaparral 2D. When can I see Chaparrals in Europe again ???

My favorite race cars since I was a kid (when the 2 was racing USRRC through Can Am). I was lucky enough to visit the museum last year and drive past the Chaparral facility, then see them run at Laguna Seca last fall and even meet Jim Hall. Thanks for everything! I was wondering - with the 2E continuation series, what would be the possibility of taking a 2E continuation chassis and re-creating the 2C? I would think that you still have the 2C bodywork someplace, and I was under the impression that the 2C was rebuilt into the 2E, so it seem like a possibility. Then the series in the museum would be complete and I would have to visit again!

I didn't make the grand opening but visited a few weeks ago. What wonderful cars on display with nothing to stand between you and their beauty! I wish I had been born 20 years earlier so I could have heard these cars in full song. Attending a Can-Am race must have been quite an experience.
Thank you Jim Hall!

I have been compiling a spreadsheet of all diecast, model kits, artwork, slot cars, etc. of the various Chaparral cars. I would make this list available if requested. Thanks for the best years of racing.

Have always loved the designs of the Chaparrals, clean, sleek, simple, no gaudy paint schemes, and look just plain FAST!! Have collected all the minichamps & autoart diecast models. Great article in Vintage Motorsport, glad to see the continuation series. Any chance of offering merchandise, clothing, etc. in the future?

I have long been an admirer of chaparrals. Since 1966 I have lusted after the cars in white. i could not as a child afford the Cox cars and Russkit ones now I hve all of them and have scratch built the ones not available in plastic to run as slotcar. The 2F is one of my favourites and the Japanese love mine as I swap the scratchbuilt body for other old slotcars to keep my costs down. LOVE the cars and hold you in the greatest regard(Jim Hall that is )
Only wish that i could afford a continuation 2E as it is my second favourite car behind the 2F. Saw the article in Vintage Motorsport. You build dreams and made your own come true!1
Cheers Martin J Ward (chappie2d is my ebay call sign!!)

Saw The Chaparrals race at St. Jovite in the 60's. Great to know about the continuation cars. Read the article in Vintage Motorsport. The article had a few errors on the start of the Can-Am series but it was wonderful to see new life for these cars.

I am so happy to see that this magical era in racing history continues to captivate fans old and new. Like many, I remember racing Cox slot cars and fighting with my cousin for the Chaparral. I can also remember marveling at the space age 2J and it's amazing ability to suck itself on to the track. The imagination and innovation of men like Jim Hall are an essential element of American excellence. Before our time of endless super computer aided testing and analysis, the innate brilliance and relentless drive of Jim Hall and others drove the development of cutting edge racing technology. What a wonderful time it was. Such a time may never occur again, but the inspirational memory and significance of it will live on forever.

Although I'm too young to have seen Chaparrals being driven in anger, it's wonderful to know that a continuation is in the make; perhaps I'll have a chance of seeing, and hearing one in action. I regret not to have experienced the racing scene in the 60's, and I wish Chaparral the best of luck with the new car. This is the stuff dreams are made of!
