Hi Mr. Hall and all involved with the living breathing CHAPARRAL legend. It is with great honor and pleasure that I have this opportunity to convey my very heart felt message. If a vast majority of the American people were to become, intimately familiar with CHAPARRAL's, amazingly inspiring heritage, I surmize that we would see marked improvements in primary and secondary school children's math and hard sciences academic performance. As well, if all fellow Americans would assume your organization's well placed sense of vision, planning and executution, as a nation, we would all be much better off. Mr. Hall, these days America is running sadly, very short on heroes. You Sir, are a true hero. Please, by all means possble, continue with your efforts, and GOD bless you for the glory of your wonderous accomplishments and for the great sense of pride you instill.

Your most appreciative fan,

Bradley A. Hajost

Bill, that thing sticking out the back of the 2J is(are) fans hooked to a snowmobile engine that sucked the air out of the car. It had Lexan skirts on the side so the internal vacuum held the car to the track. I don't thnk they quite understood the idea in Gran Tursimo as the car does not corner as well as it should (based on what drivers of the car have said in numerous articles).

I stumbled across this site while doing a Google search on GM's Frank Winchell and his "Lean Machine" city car. I'm glad I did. The 2E is apersonal favorite Can Am car, a tough admission for someone who grew up in a Ford family during the height of the "Total Performance" race efforts of the 1960s. It's amazing to see the parallels between what Hall, Sharp, etc. were doing in Midland, TX and the strides made by Colin Chapman at Lotus about the same time. I worked with the Lotus boys in the late 1990s and early 2000, and was surprised -- though perhaps I should not have been -- how much they knew about the Chaparral effort over here.Truly, this had to be one of the greatest eras in racing history.

P.S. More news on the 2E continuation series, please!

I missed the 'fleet' at Laguna Seca in '05 - I'd love to see them in action - are they travelling to historic events this summer '06? I was at the PM on the day the Gallery opened - forgot to ask JH how he became a Chevy man, and how PH would compare the 2D to the GT-40 as road cars...

I grew up watching the Chaparrals, always my favorites. I got to see the 2 race outside St. Louis at a no longer existing track and at Elkhart Lake. I have a photo of the 2 autographed by Jim and Hap that I won in a mail in thing in a slot car magazine in 66. I sent fan mail then and got back a very nice letter from Sandy. Fortunately I never throw anything away! I have met Jim several times at Indy car races and he is a great ambassador for the sport. He signed various books and photos for me and a painting I did of the 2e at Leguna Seca. Hoping to get to
Texas this summer to see the museum. Wish I had a zillion dollars so I could buy a conintuation car!

I've been watching Jim Hall's Chaparral's race since I was 16 at the Glen and Limerock. Hall is THE most innovative driver/designer ever. Love the 2C and the 2J is SO COOL. Thanks Jim for showing the rest of the race world the meaning of the "WING"

I have a beautiful custom fabricated Chaparral 2-F slot car that was built by J. Merlick in the mid-sixties. The friend that traded two of his cars to me years ago said that J. Merlick was a consulting engineer for Chevy that worked with the Chaparral team. I was wondering if you could verify that this story is true. The car is going on auction on ebay this coming Monday. You can view this unique slot car under my ebay site name: aardvarkinnovations, if you are interested in seeing it. I dream about riding my motorcycle to the musuem some day to see the real cars on display. Thank you for building this fabulous tribute to Jim Hall's incredible machines. Best regards, Mark Myaard

Jim,
My brother Dave and I attended the Monterey Historic Races last year. Both Dave and I met your and received your autographs. I was lucky enough to vist Midland a few times, met you again and you allowed me to photgraph my all-time favorite racing cars. Troy Rogers was gracious enough to show me your personal Chaparral photos and talk about the cars. I still have autographed photos of you and Hap Sharp, you made a young schoolboy very happy! Thanks forever Jim, and everyone connected with Chaparral Cars over the years!

Jim has been my hero and I've loved his cars since I saw him win the 1965 USRRC race at Riverside on TV. I've followed him and his Chaparrals ever since. Jim and his cars are what got me interested in cars as a teenager, encouraged me to get a mechanical engineering degree, and race cars when I was younger.

I hope one day I can meet him in person and thank him for his influence on my life.

Jim

Hi all!
As being at the age of only 27, I can only imagine what it would of been like to experience CAN AM and Jim Hall's Texas road runners. I will always be a Chaparral fan.
When will Jim Hall write a book about his life around chaparral race cars, something that will equal and better than most stories today. What do you think Mr J Hall?

Regards

Scott C

Hallo!

I passed last Sunday the 5th of March at the Chaparall Gallery at Midland, Texas. It was with great pleasure and interest that i was able to see again these great cars that made my early years. From Mont-Tremblant and Mosport race tracks in Canada where i first saw these amazing race cars to today a long time passed but i never forgot and will never forget Jim Hall and his Chaparall. Thank you for these great memories.
